What is the Purpose of Batik?
Purpose of Batik in the Past
Batik purpose in the past was to protect and brings fortune to the person who wears them. Batik was once used by kings so that they would win a battle. Batik patterns were made for royal families so that they would gain prosperity. The main purpose was actually for giving good fortune to protect the king. People design this batik because they appreciate and respect their king, and to show their love they gave the king the batik. Batik is not only a pattern; it’s a part of clothing.
Purpose of Batik in Present
Batik purpose now was to respect the history of batik. People thought that if we use batik now, we had already respected the person on the past that had created them. Now, batik wasn’t believed to bring prosperity or protection but as an ingredient to nowadays clothing fashion. People didn’t believe that batik could really bring good luck but as though, people still appreciate it. Batik was considered a world heritage, because of its beauty and mix of colors, patterns and shapes. This combination allows designers on present to create a work of creativity to explore batik patterns.
Change and Connection
While batik long ago was used to bring lucks, good ones, now batik was formerly used to be a part of fashion. Batik clothes weren’t like long ago, not all part of the clothing are batik and have the same pattern. Mix of colors is added to make batik more interesting and people would want to wear a traditional pattern. The connection from batik purpose on the past and now was that batik had also been a part of clothing fashion. I clarify it because only high class people and kings are allowed to wear them; commoners aren’t allowed to do so. The difference that they make shows that they may consider batik as a fashion design that would make the royal family looks grand in front of their peoples.
