BATIK PATTERN

What is Yogyakarta Batik?
Yogyakarta batik is different from the Pekalongan batik. It was created and known when the Mataram Kingdom had split into two. It was specially made for the royal family that rules that time, and had been wide-spread across the island of Java since the 17, 18 and 19 century. No one had been sure what era or time did the Batik exist but it was predicted to start existing around the Majapahit and Mataram era which was precisely a long time ago. Batik become the world heritage (as declared by UNESCO) on the 2 October 2010.
Batik Yogyakarta was a type of batik that was only to be wear by the members of the royal family in the past. Now, these designs are being allowed to be worn by common people and copies were made and spread throughout the world. Several designs on the past have unique symbols that had a certain meaning. The Yogyakarta Batik had various designs that were created especially for somebody in the royal family; some symbols meant things like protectiveness, productivity, purity and others.
